Each year BECA recruits international volunteers and local Honduran educators to teach English as a second language to Honduran children. Only 48% of Honduran youth are enrolled in high schools, making the education support we provide in low-income communities critical. BECA seeks to improve the quality of life for at-risk, low-income, school-age Honduran children and youth through a no-to-low-cost, high-quality bilingual education in their own community. Our model is built on partnerships between Hondurans committed to progressive education and international volunteers interested in a truly meaningful cultural collaboration. Our mission is to provide affordable bilingual education to educationally disenfranchised children while fostering meaningful cultural exchange. We envision that our students can go on to lead healthy, productive, and resilient lives. BECA’s motto is “We teach kids, kids teach us.”
